Max Brogan is an immigration officer in Los Angeles who must cope every day with hundreds of people trying to enter the U.S. in search of a better life. His teammate Hamid, of Iranian descent, awaiting the swearing of allegiance to his father while his family tries to show how important it is to be American. Simultaneously, a lawyer (Ashley Judd), is the case of a teenager from Bangladesh to which the state wants to deport accused of terrorism.
